This classic Malabar variety black pepper comes from the western coast of India, from the green hills of Sirsi in Karnataka. It has been grown on family farms and hand-harvested for generations, using traditional methods.

The pepper grows in the Western Ghats mountain range, one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots and the historical heart of the Indian spice trade.

Dried black pepper has been used in Indian cuisine for at least 4,000 years. Due to its high value in ancient spice trade, black pepper has often been called “black gold.” Its bold and distinctive flavour has travelled the world, becoming an essential spice in kitchens everywhere.

Packed in a metal tin that protects the aroma and preserves the flavour.
